Operational Areas

Mexico

Q’Max Mexico initiated operations in April of 2000 in Villahermosa, Tabasco. The corporate strategic vision was to establish a presence in the southern region of Mexico since it is one of the more likely areas for continuous growth; because of the higher prices due to the types of light crude oil produced, leading to PEMEX’s continuous economic growth, and searching for quality growth partners.

Our first project was the implementation of a highly ecological polymeric fluid as an alternative method of replacing inverse emulsion.

In early 2001, we began operations in Reynosa, Tamaulipas. Following this momentum we have grown territorially throughout all of Mexico, establishing an adequate and high capacity infrastructure that allows us to provide solutions safely, efficiently and effectively in all operational areas where there is extraction of hydrocarbons.

Q’Max Mexico has warehouses for supply chain management of chemical products and mud plants for producing, conditioning and maintaining drilling fluids. These plants are strategically located in order to bring a quick response to our customer's requirements at any time or situation.

Our Villahermosa mud plant has a nominal capacity of 9,900 m3 which is able to generate and condition up to 2,160 cubic meters of drilling fluids per day, making it the largest in Mexico.

We have quality control laboratories in each of our operational areas which are operated by highly skilled personnel. Part of our testing for quality control consists of the evaluation of the products and additives used for preparing our drilling fluid systems in order to verify their compliance with Mexican government standards. Additionally, our drilling fluids are carefully analyzed to ensure they comply with our own technical requirements before they are shipped to client well sites.

We have a central R&D laboratory equipped with the latest generation equipment for specialized analysis of rock-fluid interaction and drilling fluids testing. This laboratory is operated by personnel completely focused on innovation directed towards our drilling fluids systems and other applications.

Staff training is a very important aspect for Q’Max. Since our start-up in Mexico, we have trained and graduated more than 200 drilling fluid engineers during the 9 generations of our well known “Mud School”. Typically all students are university graduates and are polished off during the 2 - 3 month long school. After this period they continue their supervised training in camps.

Q’Max is a company with a sustainable management structure in the field of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment. Our Mexico facilities are ALL currently certified to ISO 9001:2008 (Quality management system), ISO 14001:2004 (Environmental management system),   OHSAS 18001:2007 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) and some other national environmental standards such as “Industria Limpia” and “Autogestion”.
