Drilling Fluid Systems: Q’MaxDrill System

The Q'MaxDrill System is a versatile drilling fluid consisting of an inhibitory amine, in either a polymer or bentonite based fluid. The amine provides a good level of inhibition while being environmentally acceptable for land-spreading and mix-bury-cover operations. In addition, the amine may be used in floc water operations to stabilize uphole water sensitive shales. Concentrations of amine used in Q'MaxDrill System are 3 - 5 L/m³, considerably below the PSAC disposal limit of 20 L/m³. The polymer based Q'MaxDrill System is recommended for more highly inhibitive drilling conditions.
