Mexico

MexMapQ’Max began Mexican operations on April 7, 2000 in the southeast of Mexico where we were hired by PEMEX to implement an environmentally friendly polymeric fluid in substitution of an inverse emulsion oil-based mud. We also began a new contract with Precision Drilling in 2001 in the north of Mexico. We currently have operations in the states of Campeche, Tabasco, Veracruz and Tamaulipas. We have 5 offices, 5 warehouses, and 4 mixing plants, with an environmental services division.

The services offered in Mexico are: drilling fluids, engineering, solids control and waste management. All of our districts are full service locations, with bases, including laboratory and plant capabilities. At present we have the following capacity:

Our main customers in Mexico are currently PEMEX and IPM Schlumberger. Drilling conditions in Mexico are considered difficult, with an overriding emphasis on oil-based muds. There are areas with hole depths greater than 7,000 meters (23,000 feet) and hole temperatures above 200° Celsius (400° Fahrenheit), and densities requirements of greater than 2.2 S.G. (18.3 ppg), which we have been able of accomplish successfully. Severe lost circulation, salt domes, acid gases, water flows, jumbo shales and laminated clay sections are prevalent problems.

Mexico plays an integral part in Q’Max’s corporate structure. It is the largest division within Q’Max, with over 300 staff. It has a demanding client base and almost 100% of the work is quoted on a “turn key”, or lump sum basis. Several new technologies have been invented in Mexico and are being exported in aid of company expansion.
