Western Canada (WCBU)  With headquarters in Calgary, Q’Max began operations in Western Canada in 1993 with a small group of dedicated co-owners as the only employees. Since then, the company has provided drilling fluids products and services to over 10,000 wells in four western provinces as well as the Arctic, and has grown to include over 70 employees in western Canada alone. Q’Max provides drilling fluids products, technical field service, research and development and inventory control for mud products for Western Canadian Drillers. We’ve also grown to include Q’Max Environmental Solutions and such innovations as the MudStripperTM , which provides Operators with leading edge water conservation and recycling when drilling with WBM. Q’Max is proud to offer the most technically advanced OBM mixing plants in Western Canada in our Grande Prairie and Edson operations. Q’Max is also a leader in the provision of drilling fluid products and management services for the unconventional plays of shale gas, coalbed methane, and tar sands drilling. Q’Max WCBU has serviced drilling operations for most of the major Operators in Western Canada including EnCana, CNRL, Nexen, ExxonMobil, Suncor, Shell Canada, Talisman Energy and a wide range of intermediate and junior operators. The biggest challenges faced by many of these companies include drilling in one of the most geologically diverse areas in the world. Well-bore stability, formation damage, pressured zones and sour gases are only a few of the issues that come into play every day, along with extremes in weather and terrain. These issues must all be addressed while maintaining health, safety and environmental sustainability. As headquarters for the global Q’Max community, we take pride in providing support for all the independent Q’Max business units as well as start ups in new geographical areas. This support includes logistics, global purchasing, research and development, corporate business initiatives and the provision of personnel when required. The WCBU spearheaded the company expansion into Mexico and India and was also instrumental in the development of our offshore business on the East Coast of Canada. |
