Drilling Fluid Systems: CBMax System

"Proprietary Coal Bed Methane Drilling Fluid"
"Drilling horizontally in coal with confidence - no wellbore instability"

The CBMax System is a proprietary system specifically designed to meet the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin drilling challenges in coal, especially those experienced in horizontal wells.

It is effective in either fresh or salt water mud and has been used by seven + major WCSB Operators to drill on more than 40 long reach Hz CBM wells.

One major Operator indicated that their well drilling days were reduced from 30 to less than 7, and their AFE costs went from about $3MM to less than $1 MM per well.

At TD, after running liner, system is easily broken with the addition of “Q Break” to remove residual mud from producing cleats and fractures.

Applications:
• Drilling fluid for wet or dry coals, vertical or horizontal
• Coring fluid to extract competent, undamaged coal cores

Benefits:
• Non-damaging, non-invasive
• Environmentally friendly allowing for land spray-while-drilling or MBC
• Proprietary product
• Inhibitive amines available, if needed
• Improved coal-bed stability
• Easily broken with minimal “skin” for low lift-off during completion
• Easy to handle mud in a wide range of properties that cover all down hole operations
